Can i use time capsule as a hard drive




















The result will be a Time Capsule you can still wirelessly backup your Macs to, but does not function as a router or access points, so none of your devices will connect to it.

This is the setup that I use; I have 3 eero routers and thus needed the Time Capsule to not be an access point, and these steps stopped it from being that but let me keep backing up to it as usual. From this wireless tab, just choose off in the Network mode pop-up and hit update.

Go into Wireless tab and set the mode to Off so that it doesn't create a WiFi network anymore. Otherwise it will try to create its own subnet for any devices connected via its ports. July 8. Control-click the folder that you added, then choose Advanced Options from the shortcuts menu that appears. Connect the drive directly to your Mac, then use Disk Utility to erase it. Are you asking if it is possible to turn off the WiFi on the Time Capsule and connect it to another router that is providing a WiFi signal? If yes, then the Time Capsule can be set up this way Apple does not officially support backups to the Time Capsule using Time Machine in this type of setup. So, things might work No way to know how well Maybe if you could provide more details on exactly what it is that you are trying to accomplish, we could provide a better and more accurate answer.

Now I see that I can set it up as a backup hard drive, my question is if eventually I can use it as an external hard rive without the time capsule setting, just to store Yes, it is possible to just use the Time Capsule as a network drive to store files. You don't have to use it for Time Machine backups.

However, if you haven't already purchased it, I would highly recommend against doing so for just using it for this purpose. If you only need an external storage device, you may be better served with just an external drive that was designed for that specific purpose.
